After seven years of phenomenal growth and numerous awards, we are backed by a joint venture partnership between Legal & General PLC and NatWest Group Pension Trustee Limited. We are on course to significantly transform the later living experience in the UK, with a commitment to expand our portfolio to 34 retirement villages, which will equate to around 5,000 age-appropriate homes for retirees.  

 

The Internal Audit & Compliance Officer will play a key role in driving best practices and ensuring ongoing success at Inspired Villages. Working closely with the Head of Internal Audit and Compliance, they will lead internal audits and assurance activities, applying a modern, data-driven approach to risk management and continuous improvement. This hands-on, delivery-focused role suits a proactive professional who thrives on variety and balances strategic thinking with practical implementation to uphold and enhance high standards of compliance and consumer excellence.

The Role:

  • Plan and conduct risk-based internal audits across diverse business areas, including audits aligned with the ARCO Consumer Code, which governs consumer protection standards in the retirement living sector.
  • Assess the effectiveness of internal controls, compliance with policies and regulations, and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Report audit findings clearly and concisely, recommending practical actions to mitigate risks and strengthen controls.
  • Track and monitor progress on audit actions, supporting business teams to implement necessary improvements.
  • Maintain the audit tracker and deliver insightful management information (MI) to inform decision-making.
  • Complete all audits in compliance with the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing (IIA Standards), ensuring objectivity, integrity, and quality throughout.
  • Analyze operational and compliance data to identify trends, gaps, and emerging risks.
  • Support the preparation of monthly and quarterly compliance reports for management and key stakeholders.
  • Promote a culture of compliance through data-driven assurance and actionable recommendations.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues, maintaining high standards of communication and professional integrity.

 

 

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience leading internal audits, compliance reviews, assessments, and policy oversight within regulated sectors.
  • Skilled in delivering clear, concise, and actionable audit reports that include strategic recommendations to strengthen compliance and operational resilience.
  • Extensive experience managing compliance in regulated industries, ensuring full adherence to industry-specific standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrated success in designing and implementing end-to-end compliance solutions across multiple business functions.
  • Strong expertise in risk management, including risk identification, assessment, mitigation, and monitoring.
  • Excellent analytical and reporting capabilities, with confidence in using Excel and presenting compliance management information (MI) to stakeholders.
